The brief

The owners of a first-floor apartment in a Venetian palazzo wanted to live in it all year without losing the worn walls and terrazzo floors they fell in love with.

What we did

  • Historic plaster cleaned and consolidated rather than repainted
  • New heating hidden in the floor between the terrazzo panels
  • Furniture kept low so the rooms keep their height
  • Velvet and wool chosen to warm up the stone rooms in winter

Materials

Venetian terrazzo, lime plaster, velvet and walnut.
